West End Live 2011

This year West End Live moved to Trafalger Square. We used an array of fabrics (some very usefully waterproof !) and in keeping with new sponsorship colours. Each of the 12 exhibitor marquees were themed to suit their occupants and dressed from top to bottom, inside & out. We have to say Historic Royal Palaces' Banqueting House was a favourite ! As usual a great team worked hard and the scene was built over 2 days.

Planets in Progress~Jamiroquai Tour 2011

Jamiroquai Tour 2011

Just finished painting an amazing stage set for Jamiroquai ~ (giant planets, some the size of a bathroom !)
In the warehouse we have been busy working under U.V. light to create planets to be lit by the amazing Vince Foster . Each sphere was constructed in fibreglass ranging from 2.3m diameter to 1m. First we coated with a base primer and then Bristol Invisible Blue U.V. paint. The planets had to be monochrome and light'ish in tone to allow Vince to work his magic. There are 12 sphere's in total and to enable us to work on them, Neg Earth Lighting constructed some truss with motors that allowed us to raise and drop each sphere to work on top and underneath. Each had to be forklifted from truck to truss and back to truck for delivery down to LH2 for production rehearsals. And soon to be on tour with Jamiroquai.

Lord of The Dance at The O2

A day spent at the 02 with the sewing machine. A last minute plea to come and make up some drapes to fit the video walls and flameproof some costumes. A good move as the dancers performing Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance appear holding flaming torches !
Since launching our on-site draping call-out service, where we arrive armed with fabric and machinery, recieves a positive response from clients.

Lord of The Dance production rehearsals at LH2

Many drapes delivered for Michael Flatley's Lord of The Dance, just about to tour. We had the joy of visiting LH2 again to customize drapes to fit around video screens. With the industrial sewing machine on hand, superb dancing rehearsals and a sunny day to boot, what a nice day !

back2front painting Harlequin Flooring

We had only 1 week to produce the stage flooring and backdrop for Mark Ronson and The Business International tour.
The design by Patrick Woodroffe, we used Cascade flooring from British Harlequin with exceptionally speedy delivery (thank you Anita!) The team first mapped out the grid which proved to be a testing of mathematical wits, especially working 16th size for the backdrop! The flooring was then de-greased and the first coat applied using Bristol paint mixed 50/50 with Aqualak.  A further 2 coats were necessary to achieve a solid finish.  The grid lines were then overlaid with neat Bristol Aqualak for a tough, durable finish and left to cure for 72 hours.  (Whilst back2front washed their paint brushes, had a cup of tea and danced to Mark Ronson)
The end result is very striking. Quite often the simpler designs are the best !
A very catchy number too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=savi6OsaCBc
